Most people, even those who follow music, have not heard of Alexz Johnson. Alexz Johnson is a Canadian singer-songwriter who has managed to secure herself a good professional acting career to pay for her studio time. She played goth girl Erin Ulmer in Final Destination 3 and Jude Harrison in The-N’s TV series Instant Star for four seasons. Premiering this Saturday, August 29, 2009 she had a double lead role in Lifetime’s movie “Stranger With My Face”. As amazing as her acting resume is Alexz prides herself as a musician first and an actress second.
Her music career has been a rough ride and new developments have not made it easy for her. She began mixing music with her acting when she played Annie on the show “So Weird”. Following that the role of Jude Harrison on Instant Star allowed her to create even more music. She wrote several songs for the song and performed every song required by her character. Around this time Capitol records signed her to a record deal. She began working on her own music during Instant Star as well as worked hard to separate herself from her character Jude Harrison. Instant Star added around thirty songs to her growing catalogue of songs she has.

When Capitol Records got sold Alexz was forced to find a new label. She found a new home at Epic Records and continued working on her solo material. She recorded ten songs for them, but economic downturn affecting the music industry, as well as everywhere else cause Epic to drop one third of their artists. Sadly, Alexz Johnson was one of them. Through old jobs she has managed to create an overall catalogue of around 80 unique songs, but has yet to be able to release her solo material. Undetered she continues writing, singing, and recording independently. Alexz is currently planning to release her solo album in the fall of 2009.
